Wendy Vandehey
Wendy Vandehey's Bio: I have been fortunate to never have battled cancer but find the cause personal as a woman. I am an adopted child with no medical history and I know that the future can at any time present the greatest of surprises. We are all mothers, sisters, friends and neighbors therefore connected to this incredible fight in finding a cure for breast cancer. I have had the honor of being at home with my two children for 12 years and working part time in photography. This event is very special for me, my 43rd birthday will be celebrated as my sister and I scrapbook together the memories of our lives. We love the idea of giving something in return, especially in a time that we are so fortunate to have so much.

Shannah Tenner
Shannah Tenner's Bio: I have never personally battled cancer, but two of my closest, life-long friends are breast cancer survivors. In addition to supporting my friends through their treatment, I know several other brave women who are currently fighting this horrible disease. For over twenty years I have owned a day spa, In Touch Massage & Day Spa, in Thousand Oaks, California. For years I've made personal donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, but until now, I've never affiliated my business with any charity organization.
When I heard about Scrapbook Royalty and all of the amazing charity events they have organized, I realized that I could finally do something on a larger scale to help this worthy cause. I know that my husband and all of my friends will be proud of me for participating in this event and I hope it will set an example for my seven year old daughter, so that she will passionately support the causes she believes in when she grows up.

Kat Baker
Kat Baker's Bio: Thankfully, my story does not include being personally afflicted with breast cancer. However, I have watched several people close to me, including my dad die from the dreaded disease of cancer. The emotional and physical pain from cancer is crippling and devastating to the human body. Watching your loved one, whose life is completely turned inside out, go through such a horrendous ordeal, is something I pray I never witness again.
Every year, I marvel at the people who not only fund-raise in an effort to contribute huge amounts of money to their charity, but then subject their bodies to the grueling, 60-mile 3-Day Walk. I was always the person who wrote a check and felt very good that I had made a contribution. This year, however, through encouragement of a friend, I have committed to the 3-Day Crop, which means my fingers will be doing the walking. It also means, actually fundraising to raise $2,000 or more to help support Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Whew! This is such a huge commitment for me in so many ways, but then I think of the people who must commit to sometimes 30 rounds of chemo, or a life changing mastectomy, in an effort to save their own life. It certainly gets me out of my little safe box. I would love and I pray that we find a cure in my lifetime so that our childrens children dont have to worry about this horrific disease or watch someone they love suffer.

Liz Goldsberry
Liz Goldsberry's Bio:
"Why am I taking part in the Three Day Crop?" Sheila said I needed to write an answer to that question. So, here goes: Sheila is the older of my two daughters, not only do we live together, we both work for the Oceanside Unified School District, we both enjoy scrapbooking and our lives have both been touched by Breast Cancer.
My mother, who lived with Sheila and I, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in early 1989 and we opted to do home care for her. After successful chemo she did very well for almost six years, however in 1995 she lost her valiant struggle and went on to another place where she would find peace and be pain free.
Shortly after that we became involved in scrapbooking where we met a whole lot of new friends. As these friendships developed our hobby grew into a much larger thing. We became involved in a 24hour scrapbooking marathon fundraiser called Survivor Crop. The first year we were just participants, the second year Sheila was a part of the committee and the following five years she actually chaired the event. It has been an amazing thing to watch her grow and become a moving force in this arena. In six years she was able to help folks to raise $280,000 for Susan G. Koman for the Cure. This year she stepped down from Survivor Crop (it will continue on with someone new at the helm) and decided to do a smaller event and still raise funds for SGK. Needless to say I will support her as a participant of this meaningful event. Thank you all for your support!

Jean Bruns
Jean Bruns' Bio: Cancer is truly an insidious disease, but breast cancer perhaps intensifies the emotional potency because its treachery strikes the very identity of women.
My experience has been merely to walk with friends who have suffered and to watch their lives spiral erratically. I have been privileged, also, to witness the perseverance, determination, tenacity, and faith of those who courageously endured rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, loss of hair, physical frailty, and even mastectomy to defeat the devastation wreaked upon their bodies. In my good fortune, I know survivors who are our heroines, that their adherence to treatment, along with modern medical advancements, have allowed them to continue enjoying a quality of life and sharing that sense of cautious victory. But much more must be done!
I have an opportunity to answer the call to help others less fortunate than I. To commit to a 3Day crop and to reach my donation goal of at least $2000 is perhaps a small contribution in light of the suffering, but I hope my commitment will help in confronting and conquering this terror in our lifetime and give hope to our children and grandchildren.

Cheryl Lindsay
Cheryl Lindsay's Bio: Why I am doing the 3 day crop for many reasons. The biggest reason is being a Breast Cancer survivor of 6 years!
I have been one of the lucky ones, with good insurance, a supportive loving family and many wonderful friends. These people have been by my side during my illness and now through my recovery. I have to say the experience of Breast Cancer has changed my life in many ways. I try to not to focus to much on the problems we all have, but look forward to the future. I have gained 6 extra years in my life and I want to use it wisely. Every day is a new experience and needs to be viewed as a new chance to LIVE every day. The 3 day walk is beyond me so this 3 day scrapbook event is going to be my time to help Susan G. Komen by earning $2,000. This money will help not only research but providing one on one interactions with patients having a difficult time. Susan G. is there in every way, providing psychological support and helping with financial problems (providing for family groceries, clothing and even house hold expenses.) Please help to support them like they support others.
